How to throw an adult Halloween Party

Halloween is my favorite time to throw a party! I love everything spooky, gory and creepy! And I absolutely love dressing up! My hubby and I just finished up our third annual adult only Halloween party this weekend! I had a blast decorating for it and we loved getting to share it with our friends. I thought I'd share some of my party ideas with you guys as well, as our favorite couples costumes.

Enjoy!

Adult Beverages Anyone?

I love coming up with new, fun adult drink each year! This year specialist was an Blood Orange Sangria! It was the easiest drink to fix and was delicious! Its not a Halloween party without shots! I’m not a big vodka drinker, and I wanted to keep everything simple this year, so we went Coconut Rum and Cherry Jello for the win! They were so good! And lastly, we had wine and beer available to partake in!

Blood Orange Sangria

Ingredients

  • 2 25.4 fl oz bottles of Blood Orange Soda (Got mine from World Market)

  • 2 bottles of white wine

  • frozen green grapes

Directions

  1. In a large drink pitcher combine the blood orange soda with the white wine. Place a few frozen grapes int eh pitcher and a few in each glass you're serving. Enjoy over ice.

I love to decorate for Halloween but I don't love to cook. I try to keep it basic with a slight creative edge to it. I also encourage my guests to bring their favorite spooky dish or drink. That helps to cut down on some of my work and also to add a little variety. Most people love making things for parties like this and it's fun to see what others come up with.

For the cookies, I just dipped nutter butters in melted white chocolate, drizzling it over top to look like a mummy. Then I just added candy eyes. You can make a meat tray look festive by throwing a skull down in the middle of it! I've also seen a full skeleton be used as a meat tray with different meats inside the ribs- super cool looking! I made my famous buffalo dip and added black tortilla chips to make it look like jack a later- easy peasy! I love the puking pumpkin though I can't take credit for that one. I can tell you that the vomit is hummus and it was delicious! I've also seen guacamole used as well. I always serve some type of chili and chicken tortilla soup as well.

Couples Costumes

I already mentioned how much I love to dress up! Here are a few of my favorite couples costumes that Chris and I have done over the last few years.

The Joker & Harley Quinn (Suicide Squad)

Ken & Barbie (Toy Story 3)

Edward Lewis & Vivian Ward (Pretty Woman)

Hugh Hefner & Wife, Crystal Harris
